By Shruthi Bhat

It was a red-letter day in the annals of Vels Hr. Sec. School; the day being the inauguration of the Literary Association. The official induction of the association included an exciting array of literary events. The programme commenced with a prayer by the school choir while Shruthi Bhat of XI A and Bhuvaneshwari of XII B played the hosts. Jeyanth, the ASPL of the school delivered the welcome address. Prashanth talked about the importance of French while Dhanya Jeyachandran translated it in English for the audience. Raj kiran and Sudharshan tickled our funny bones by miming some of the famous film personalities. Raahul of 12th Std moved everyone to tears by enacting the role of "Anthony" from the most celebrated bard, Shakespeare's work- "Julius Caesar". Parvathy played "Portia" from Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice". Pratheebha donned the role of kanal kannagi and captivated everyone with her diction, in Tamil. Sri Priya Vardhini recited "Kabir ke dohe" and Preeti, Archana and Ishwarya recited Sanskrit verses praising the flourishing Tamil land. The dainty damsels of XI std danced to a Bharatiyaar song, giving a feast for the eyes. Mr. Venkatachalam, Dean, Vel's group of Institutions, graced the occasion with his esteemed presence. Our principal, Mr. Poornachandran addressed the gathering and shared his knowledge about literature. The show kept everyone booming till the last curtain fell and it finally came to an end with Gayathri Mohan proposing the vote of thanks.
