This year our city has been bestowed with the honour of conducting the first world classical Tamil conference in a grand manner for five days. We are aware that the Tamil was the first indian laguage to be given classical status . It has the oldest extent literature among other Dravidian languages. The art and architecture of Tamil people encompass some of the notable contributions of India and south East Asia to the world. The musi, the temple architecture and the stylised sculptures favoured by the Tamil people in their anciet nation are still being learned and practiced. Then Tamil has been referred to as the last surviving classical civilisation. It is our duty of every Tamilian to take pride in participating in the activities accomplished by the organisers.
