Every year, 15th of August is a very important day for our school. Not just because it is Independence Day, but also because, it is the birthday of our beloved Master Sri Aurobindo.
On 15th August, 2008 the whole of India celebrated our 61st Independence Day. We celebrated it in our school in a very grand manner. The flag was hoisted by Mrs. Rangamani, a senior Telugu teacher and also the class teacher of top class. She is every punctual, disciplined and is an asset for the students as well as the teachers.
We had a speech on our Master Sri Aurobindo. Sri Aurobindo was also a great freedom fighter apart from being a great person of great spiritual values. He established the Ashram at Pondicherry, which is now visited by devotees all around the world.
Then we had a small speech on the Independence Day, by our School Leader, V. Sivananda Lahari of class X. Then there was a group song by the students of 7th & 8th classes. There was a recital of a poem written by Sri Aurobindo, the students of 7th class.
After the bhajans by the students we had a fabulous dance performance by the students of 7th & 8th classes. A medley of 6 patriotic songs was performed by them.
Then there was prize distribution, and prizes were given away for competitions like Poem recitation, Essay Writing and Extempore competition.
The program was a huge success. We have to remember that with every advancing year, our responsibility for our country’s progress increases. We should also remember that the martyrs have achieved independence after long struggle sacrificing everything, that to following the path of only non-violence, which is very difficult.
But…
Do you think that there is any place for non-violence in India these days?
Do you think India has served the purpose of Independence?
Do you think India has achieved the progress it has to achieve in 61 years of its Independence?
Do question yourselves……….
You will find an answer.
