The Grand Old Man

By Rangamani Didi, Translated by
We the students of The Mother's Integral School know our beloved Dadaji, as the Grand Old Man of Our School, who was responsible for the establishment of our school.

But we know very little about Dadaji.

Dadaji belonged to district of Nalgonda in Andhra Pradesh. He was born in the year 1922. His parents were Smt. Narsamma and Sri. Narasimha Reddy.
Dadaji belonged to a rich, but generous family. His father had a spiritual learning. This might be the reason, which made Dadaji join The Mother and The Master. Dadaji completed his studies in Hyderabad. Dadaji's brother, Mr. Madhusudhan Reddy established the Sarnath society in 1938. It was from then that Dadaji's interest in spiritual issues increased.
In the year 1965, Dadaji completed his graduation in Philosophy and returned to his village. From the money he earned through a temporary teacher's post, he visited the ashrams of the saints during his days. He visited the Ramana maharshi ashram and stayed there for about 15 days.

From there he went to Pondicherry. There he met The Mother.

After the death of his father in 1951, Dadaji started looking after the estate. He got married in year 1954, and the couple had a son in the year 1955.
The next time, when Dadaji visited Sri Aurobindo ashram, there was a great change in his ideals. He decided to follow the path of spirituality.

The estate that belonged to Dadaji's family was shared among the brothers.
With the money he inherited Dadaji bought a house in Hyderabad. It is in that premises that The Mother's Integral School was established.

In 1962, Dadaji was denied the admission into the Aurobindo ashram.
When he wrote a letter to The Mother, explaining to her his position, he received her blessings as a reply. He started doing his PhD ,successfully completed it, and topped the University.
Then Dadaji joined the ashram, with the divine blessings of The Mother.
Later, with the help of funds, Dadaji started a guest house for the Telugu people in Pondicherry where eligible people are given lodging free of cost.

Every year, on the 30th of September, on the occasion of Dadaji's birthday, new set of clothes are presented to all the aayas, watchmen and drivers working in our school.
Dadaji believes that all the people working for us should be kept happy because, only if they work, we will be able to live happily and comfortably. He believes that they are all a part of the family i.e The Mother's Integral School.
Dadaji is a great person who opts to live a simple life.
Words aren't enough to express his greatness.
We, the students of this school, consider ourselves to be very fortunate to grow up and study under his care and guidance.
