Investiture Ceremony and Prize Distribution

By Bhargavi Ramanathan , XI , A

Not even the overcast sky could dampen the spirits of those gathered on the 19th of August, 2010 to witness the Hyderabad Public School’s Investiture Ceremony and Prize Distribution, a long-standing tradition of this historic establishment. The Chief Guest of the morning was Major General Rakesh Chandra Chadha, General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of his lady, Mrs. Rashmi Chadha.

The event began with a parade of the Senior School students. The hours of practice that they had put in certainly paid off, and their perfectly synchronized marching was praised by all. The Principal, Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur Samra, then presented the Annual Report, which highlighted the school’s many triumphs during the academic year 2009-10.

The impressive function saw the Head Boy C. Sai Shashank, the Head Girl Aparna Abimanyu, captains of various games and co-curricular activities, and school prefects invested by the Chief Guest, as the sun emerged victorious over the dense clouds, bathing the newly-invested prefects in its golden rays.

The eagerly awaited Prize Distribution followed. Mrs. Rashmi Chadha gave away the hundred and sixty-five book prizes and the thirty-three medals awarded to those who had excelled at academics, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.

In his keynote address, the Chief Guest stressed the important role played by students in nation building, and the necessity of making themselves worthy of this role. He exhorted them to achieve success in every possible way.

The first important ceremony of this school year, the Investiture Ceremony was an outstanding triumph, and has set the bar high for all school functions that will follow. However, this high standard will surely be surpassed – soaring to new heights is what eagles do best.
