GURUPURNIMA

“Gurupurnima” was observed on the 7th of July 2009. Gurupurnima is observed to commemorate the birthday of the sage, Veda Vyas. We began the day as usual, with an invocation to the Lord Almighty. We had the morning assembly by the students of Std XI B, after which the programme actually began.

The programme began with a speech on Gurupurnima by Padma of Std IX A. This was followed by a skit, presented by the students of Std IX, on the story of Eklavya. The skit brought out the instrumental role played by teachers in moulding students' lives. After the skit, we had the “Guru Dakshina”, by the Senior Head Boy, Manu T, M. and Senior Head Girl, Rosy Jacob, giving the Dakshina to our Principal, Mrs. Sunitha; and the Junior Head Boy, Gopikrishnan and Junior Head Girl Ashwini Menon, giving the Dakshina to our Vice-Principal, Mrs. Umadevi K.P., and seeking their blessings.

After the morning assembly was dispersed and everyone seated in their respective classes, the class teacher and assistant class teacher of each class were given Dakshina and their blessings were sought. After this, the classes continued as usual.
