MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

By Mr. V. Venkatachalam, Dean

With inimitable cheers and enthusiasm I place on record, India has a lot of ground to cover on education within very little time available. We produce the 2nd largest number of Engineers in the world, every year as well as the largest number of schools dropouts! It is known as intellectual capital though one third of its population remain illiterate! We have schools with imposing building, August auditorium, eminently got up lecture halls, carefully set up class rooms, elaborately equipped labs, stately stadiums, well laid play fields, expensive workshop and pageantry convocations also schools without even a black board!
Children selling magazines on roads, accompanying fathers to work and companies facing shortages of employable person is a concern.
Universal education for India still remains a dream .Still schools for the haves and have not’s exist. Many visionary leaders from as for back a Napoleon have found the idea for building a Nation through education a very attractive notion. We need a clear vision for education. Education requires a mix of factors ranging from qualified, inspired teachers to update the curriculum and effective testing!. If we want to transform the community of illiterates to talented human capital, all the teachers should be sober reformist! and all the learners to be:
An articulate, autonomous but collaborative
Possessing high meta cognitic control and the skills of learning
Gained educational experiences that engage opportunities and challenges
Supported by various people, materials & ICT linked to well being
Critically focused on learning, in studying schools where the culture and the structures support co-construction through distributed leadership and make them realize that the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts.
Our Success is due to the combination of our teachers and children, with the unstinted cooperation of our Chairman Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh.
