Poetic Reflections

By Arpita

Literary Club of the Middle Department organized a creatively inspiring Poetry Composition Competition on 17th April’12, for the students of Class VI, VII and VII in English and Hindi. In English, the budding poets reflected their rhythmic thoughts on the topic ‘I want freedom from…’. Zealous poems were received by the judges (Ms. Anju Arora and Ms. Ritu Singh) from which poems by Gitanjali Gakhar and Tanishq M Chowdhary of class VIII H were considered outstanding. The participatory spirit was evident in the umpteen numbers of students writing poems as the judges were not left with a choice but adjudge Sahej Preet, Arushi Gupta, Aishwarya Vardhan, Gulsheen Ahuja, Shruti Manna and Dhawal Singhal: all as first position winners. In Hindi, the topic being,’ Main Azadi Chahta Hoon…’ too received a plethora of creative expressions in the form of poems. Prishita Aggarwal and Sanuja Gupta bagged the first position while, Kamaksha Maggoo, Chirag Vashisht and Saloni Aggarwal were given the second position. The judges were impressed with students baring their creative souls in worldly phrases.
The competition was a reflection of the imaginative stances the students could fathom. By writing poems on the topics related to freedom, their words portrayed the thoughts of a young generation which is serious about its future and demands.
