A Man Who Refused to DIE

By G.Vandana , VIII , A

Bob Gauche was a pilot. One day he flew in his plane to far north of Canada, many hundred miles from any town. His plane had suddenly developed a problem there and landed on snow. There was no fuel in the store. His radio did not work. There was not much food also. Bob tried to repair the plane but the temperature was 6 degrees below zero. His feet were frozen and five toes turned black and he suffered terrible pain. He gave up his effort to repair the plane and most of the time spelt inside the sleeping bag waiting for planes to rescue him.

Two weeks passed like this. There were only few pieces of raw fish to eat. Bob thought his days were numbered. So he wrote letters of goodbye to his wife and daughters. Many weeks passed. Then one day an airplane flew near but did not saw him. After 3 months, an airplane passed and then came back got him out of the place. This happened as the pilot of the plane saw the setting sun flash in bob’s airplane window.
